Mohanlal went emotional as he received the award from the army chief and said: My heart overflows with pride and happiness on receiving this award which carries the legacy of a great Maharaja.
Instituted by the Sree Chithira Tirunal Trust in memory of the erstwhile King of Travancore, the award carries a cash prize of Rs One Lakh and a citation.
The award which was first announced in 2006 is in honour of individuals who have made exceptional contributions in art, science, literature, medicine, education and cinema.
