The other films which tried for a Christmas release like Bodyguard and Happy Husbands due to lack of theatres have been shifted to January. Vijay’s Vettaikaran releases a week earlier on December 18 and will have to take on the Hollywood 3D James Cameron’s Avatar.
In a way it is going to be a prestige battle for the Christmas weekend, as Mammootty’s Chattambinadu is produced and distributed by Play House, his home production. Similarly Mohanlal’s Ivide Swargam Aanu is produced by Aashirwad Cinemas belonging to his hatchet man Antony Perumbavoor and distributed by Maxlab, Mohanlal’s distribution concern.
For the first time M & M are going to clash after they turned to filmmaking and distribution. As of now Chattambinadu will release on Christmas Eve (December 24), while Ivide Swargam Aanu will come on Christmas Day (December 25). Both the films are commercial mass masalas and will take a terrific opening.
